OUR MISSION:
“Community Woodworking is dedicated to the study and development of traditional and modern woodworking skills in a fun, safe, responsible environment. Our workshops, our tools, our staff, and our instructors are designed to support our members in the hands-on pursuit of woodworking mastery.”
Community Woodworking is Denver’s newest woodworking club, and we are very excited to join our other local clubs in the cultivation of any and all disciplines of woodworking! We differ slightly from the other clubs along the front range in that we are designed to be a half-way point between a club and a hands-on school, offering you as a member the opportunity to make use of a furnished communal workshop.
Community Woodworking is YOUR woodworking club. Our goal is to provide the educational environment, work space, tools, and resources to anyone interested in learning and perfecting their woodworking skills, regardless of their current skill level. From joinery to wood turning, from carving to finishing, from Japanese Shoji screens to French polish, we endeavor to regularly offer a variety of instruction by experienced professionals, as well as access to printed & video media, which is always available for checkout by our members.
Traditional woodworking skills, like all trade skills, have been somewhat overshadowed by the fascination and instant gratification of the digital age. We want to renew a broad interest in these skills and arts, and keep these traditions alive and well for the betterment and enjoyment of current and future generations. So come check us out, and bring your friends and family. We look forward to your involvement in the woodworking community! What will YOUR contribution be?
Sincerely,
Joshua Ellison - Shop Director
Stephen Anthony - Shop Supervisor

JOSHUA ELLISON (Shop Director, 2009 - Present)
The position of Shop Director can be thought of as a combination of Club President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Event Coordinator, though currently, most of the responsibilities of the club are shared with the Shop Supervisor. Our current Shop Director, Joshua comes from a background of 2D, 3D, & industrial design as well as metal fabrication. Joshua brings a true passion for woodworking & design, as well as a knack for unconventional thinking and problem solving to the club. Though still somewhat new to woodworking, Joshua has continued to turn out finished pieces that hint at the term "expert" showing up somewhere in his future.
STEPHEN ANTHONY (Shop Supervisor, 2009 - Present)
The position of Shop Supervisor is more technical than that of the Shop Director in that the Shop Supervisor is responsible for ongoing shop maintenance, tool calibration, overseeing the design and fabrication of shop fixtures & jigs, as well as coordinating the layout of the constantly evolving shop space. Our current shop supervisor, Stephen Anthony has been a professional cabinetmaker, and designer for over 30 years, including several of those years as a woodworking teacher. He brings all of that experience and expertise to the club. In sports terms, Stephen could be likened to a "Club Pro", and is usually more than happy to share his knowledge and skill with anyone interested. Stephen is most accurately the Co-President of Community Woodworking, contributing invaluable guidance and experience to how the club has evolved since its inception. Stephen has also signed on to lead several of our club demonstrations during 2010.
