Community Woodworking

To encourage skill development for our members, we have created a new opportunity called: Free Projects. These Free Projects are open to all members in good standing, and cost NO hourly time! The project topic will change monthly, and will be posted on the website on the first of each month, as well as announced at each monthly meeting. In light of the recent rough lumber donation we received, July's Free Project is "Planing & Surfacing" and pertains specifically to this donated wood. Members are welcome to use hand and/or power tools to true up the rough lumber, and are welcome to keep any lumber that they surface. This is really a fantastic opportunity, and we encourage all members to participate. We will continue Free Projects as long as members take advantage of them!

We are very excited to announce that the DIY network show "COOL TOOLS" has chosen to shoot some segments at the Community Woodworking shop! Darin Foat, the show's producer, and Stuart Lees of Stu's Shed fame http://stusshed.wordpress.com/ spent Monday afternoon chatting with Stephen and I, while setting up for Tuesday's shoot. The club enjoyed a fun and incredibly thorough tour of Austin Hardwoods on Saturday, February 13th.

Our weekend at The Denver Woodworking show could definitely be called a success! We spoke to hundreds of people about the club and have already given a few tours resulting from those conversations.
